Billionaire businessman, Deji Adeleke, addresses paternity claims against his son, Davido

When online chatter spirals into almost yearly debates, sometimes a calm explanation backed by facts is the only way to cut through the noise. That’s exactly what billionaire businessman Dr Deji Adeleke, father of singer Davido, did in a press conference addressing ongoing paternity claims against his son.

The story began years ago when a young woman in Ibadan, Ayo Labinjo, claimed she had a child with Davido in 2013. Online discussions recently reignited after the girl, named Anuoluwapo, requested a fresh DNA test to confirm paternity. Davido responded, noting that five previous DNA tests all came back negative.

Speaking publicly for the first time, Deji Adeleke explained that while Davido cannot take responsibility for a child that is not his, the girl still deserves clarity about her father.

“Immediately I read the letter, even before speaking to David, I called the woman. I told her if the child was truly my granddaughter, she would be welcomed into our family happily,” Adeleke said.

The process, he described, was meticulous and transparent:

  • Saliva samples were collected in Lagos, analyzed in South Africa.

  • Only Davido, the grandmother, mother, and Adeleke were present during the testing.

  • Multiple DNA tests, including two additional rounds to eliminate doubt, all returned a 0.00% probability of paternity.

Adeleke emphasised that despite social media narratives, the Adeleke family had nothing to gain from denying a child, noting that he already has 14 grandchildren.

“Science is clear. What is one more? Is it that I cannot afford to take care of her?” he said, urging the public to disregard misinformation online.

Like a courtroom drama settled in a lab rather than tweets, this statement puts facts over speculation, showing that even the loudest online rumors can be silenced by transparency, patience, and science.
