“If You Want Us to Leave America, Just Tell Us” – Nigerian Woman Appeals to US President Trump
A Nigerian woman living in the United States has sparked widespread reactions online after a video of her emotional appeal to former US President, Donald Trump, went viral.
In the now-trending clip, the elderly woman passionately urged the US government to clearly state its intentions if immigrants are no longer welcome in the country, rather than subjecting them to what she described as inhumane treatment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
According to her, recent videos showing ICE officials forcefully arresting immigrants have left her deeply traumatized, especially after watching footage allegedly linked to the d3ath of an immigrant nurse.
She lamented that the actions of ICE agents have created fear, panic, and emotional distress not only among undocumented immigrants but also among legal residents and even US citizens.
“I watched some ICE videos yesterday, including the one where they just k!lled a nurse. It was very traumatizing,” she said.
The woman noted that many immigrants are being treated “like animals,” regardless of their legal status, stressing that ICE agents often ignore pleas from individuals who claim to be citizens.
She further explained how the situation has affected her personally, revealing that she has a teenage son and felt compelled at one point to withdraw him from school out of fear for his safety.
“I felt like going to my son’s school and telling him, ‘Let’s pack our things and go back to Nigeria,’” she added.
In her message, she emphasized that immigrants play a vital role in the American workforce, particularly in sectors like healthcare and caregiving—jobs she believes many Americans are unwilling or unable to do.
She pointed out the irony of immigrants caring for elderly Americans in nursing homes, yet being subjected to harassment, violence, and even d3ath in public spaces.
“The jobs immigrants are doing, you Americans cannot do them. Your people are in nursing homes and need help,” she stated.
The Nigerian woman pleaded with President Trump to grant immigrants at least one year to prepare and organize their lives if the government truly wants them out of the country.
She stressed that families back home are praying for their loved ones’ safety—not for their bodies to be returned in coffins.
“If you want us to leave America, tell us. Give us time—at least one year—and we will leave. We are begging,” she said.
She concluded by stating that despite Nigeria’s challenges, it remains home, and the level of fear immigrants currently experience in the US is far worse.
“At least we still have our country. Whether it is good or bad, people are surviving there. Enough is enough,” she concluded.
The video has since ignited intense discussions online, with many Nigerians and other immigrants expressing solidarity, while others debate immigration policies and human rights concerns in the United States.
