The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Eric Chelle will continue as head coach following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Despite falling short of the federation’s target of reaching the final, Chelle guided the Eagles to a bronze medal, defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau praised the coach and his team, noting that Nigeria displayed significant progress under Chelle’s guidance. “The team is close to running on autopilot and will definitely achieve a lot of success under the present technical crew,” Gusau said.
He added: “Mr Chelle has done exceedingly well within the one year he has been with us. He has shown enormous capacity, and we will continue to work with him.”
With this confirmation, the Super Eagles can continue building on their AFCON performance, aiming for even greater achievements in upcoming tournaments.
Under Chelle, Nigeria’s team is like a well-oiled machine gradually hitting its stride — precise, focused, and ready for bigger challenges.
