Nigerian-Born UK-Based Student Tragically Stabbed to Death Near University Campus

A Nigerian-born university student based in the United Kingdom has tragically lost his life following a stabbing incident near a university campus in Leicester, sparking grief across the Nigerian and UK communities.

The victim, Khaleed Oladipo, a second-year student at De Montfort University, died in hospital after sustaining fatal injuries during what police described as a “very serious incident” close to the city centre.

Emergency services were called to the scene, with four ambulances and an air ambulance dispatched. Khaleed was rushed to hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries later that night.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that he died from a stab wound to the chest.

Police stated that Khaleed had been involved in an altercation before being stabbed, and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Leicestershire Police have since confirmed that an 18-year-old suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody as investigations continue.

In a statement released through the police, Khaleed’s family described him as an “extremely loved” son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, and friend.

They shared that Khaleed had a deep love for football, having played since the age of four, and was a devoted Arsenal supporter. The family believes he was on his way home to watch an Arsenal match when the tragic incident occurred.
