Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye reconcile after feud over 2023 elections

Nigerian musicians Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P of the former P-Square group, have reconciled after their public disagreement during the 2023 general elections.

The feud began after both artistes expressed opposing views about the presidential ambition of Peter Obi, who contested under the Labour Party. Seun Kuti had described Obi as an “opportunist,” a comment that sparked backlash from Peter Okoye.

In response, Okoye questioned Kuti’s relevance and contributions to the Nigerian music industry, leading to a heated exchange between the two on social media that drew widespread attention at the time.

However, recent developments suggest the rift has been resolved. The two artistes were seen together at a Lagos nightclub, where they embraced and appeared to put their differences behind them.

A video of the moment, which has since gone viral, captured Seun Kuti telling Okoye, “We are artistes, we can’t be fighting over politicians.” Okoye agreed, marking an apparent end to their dispute.

The reconciliation has been welcomed by fans, with many praising both musicians for choosing unity over prolonged division.
