Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Tems is taking her influence beyond the mic with the launch of the Leading Vibe Initiative, a transformative platform dedicated to uplifting and empowering women in Africa’s music industry. This groundbreaking program aims to provide opportunities for aspiring female artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers, starting with a vibrant kickoff in Lagos.
Tems, celebrated for hits like “Love Me Jeje” and her soul-stirring vocals, announced the initiative on Instagram, sharing her vision:
“Today, I’m beyond excited to launch The Leading Vibe Initiative. From my self-taught journey with no roadmap, I created this platform to support African women in music—those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave.”
Rooted in her own experience of navigating the music industry without formal training or industry connections, Tems is passionate about creating a space where women can thrive. The initiative addresses the lack of opportunities for women in roles like songwriting, production, and engineering, despite the booming growth of Nigeria’s music scene.
Kicking Off in Lagos
The Leading Vibe Initiative will launch its first immersive program on August 8–9, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria. Tailored for women aged 18–35, this two-day event will feature:
- Workshops and Masterclasses: Hands-on training led by industry experts to hone skills in music production, songwriting, and more.
- Panel Discussions: Insights from seasoned professionals to inspire and guide participants.
- Networking Opportunities: Connections to mentors and tools to help women build sustainable careers.
Tems shared her motivation, saying:
“This is for the ones who believe, who dare to be different, and who have a dream to be seen and a voice that deserves to be heard.”
A Vision for Africa

While Lagos marks the starting point, Tems has big plans to expand the initiative across the continent, creating opportunities for women in music from all corners of Africa. The Leading Vibe Initiative is more than a program—it’s a movement to redefine the industry and amplify underrepresented voices.
