TINUBU’S REFORMS WILL ATTRACT NIGERIANS ABROAD BACK HOME – YOUTH MINISTER OLAWANDE

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, says President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms will soon make Nigeria attractive enough for citizens living abroad to return home.

Speaking in Akure, Ondo State, after receiving an award from the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, as part of the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary, Olawande expressed confidence that the country is being positioned for long-term stability and prosperity.

According to him, President Tinubu’s administration is laying a strong foundation for a better Nigeria—one that citizens in the diaspora, especially young professionals, will be proud to return to.

“Everything the president is doing now is for the future,” the minister said. “Very soon, people will prefer to live in Nigeria than remain abroad because the country is being stabilized.”

He declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing reforms are designed not just to fix the present, but to transform Nigeria into a country worth coming back to—especially for Nigerians living in the diaspora.

Speaking at the 10th coronation anniversary of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, where he received a royal award of recognition, Olawande shared his unwavering belief in the long-term strategy of the Tinubu-led administration.

From Brain Drain to Brain Gain

For decades, Nigeria has struggled with an exodus of talent. Highly skilled Nigerians in medicine, tech, engineering, and finance have steadily migrated abroad in search of stability, better wages, and professional opportunities. This “brain drain” has cost the nation not just its brightest minds, but also slowed its development.

But Olawande believes this tide is turning.

The administration’s sweeping reforms, he noted, are setting the stage for a more attractive, opportunity-filled Nigeria—a country where global Nigerian talent would not only want to return, but thrive.

Key Reform Areas Fueling Optimism

Minister Olawande emphasized several areas where real structural progress is being made:

• Youth Inclusion in Governance:
  For years, Nigerian youth have felt disconnected from national leadership. The Tinubu administration is actively reversing this trend by bringing young voices to the decision-making table, and giving them real stakes in policy formulation and implementation.

• Entrepreneurship and Job Creation:
  Government-led initiatives are targeting vocations, tech, agriculture, and the creative industries, providing thousands of young people with marketable skills, funding support, and mentorship.

• Reviving the National Economy:
  Though painful in the short term, reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of exchange rates are meant to stabilize the economy, boost investor confidence, and reduce overreliance on imports.

• Investments in Infrastructure & Digital Economy:
  Strategic investment in roads, energy, broadband access, and innovation hubs are geared toward creating a modern Nigeria that can support startups, scale businesses, and attract foreign partnerships.

“We’re Laying the Foundation for the Next Generation”

Olawande didn’t shy away from acknowledging that challenges remain. Inflation, security concerns, and youth unemployment continue to be pressing issues. However, he insists that the administration is focused on sustainable, long-term solutions—not quick political wins.

“The challenges we face today are a result of decades of neglect,” he said.
“But now, structures are being put in place to change that.”

He urged Nigerian youths—both at home and abroad—to remain hopeful, stay informed, and take advantage of the evolving opportunities being created across various sectors.

The message to the diaspora was clear: Nigeria is changing. And you’re part of it.

As global economies tighten and interest in African innovation grows, Nigeria’s large diaspora could soon find a more compelling reason to come home—not out of obligation, but because the environment is finally becoming competitive, rewarding, and secure.

“This is a government that is building a future where Nigerians abroad will not only want to visit—but invest, settle, and lead,” Olawande affirmed.
