US Streamer Kai Cenat Visits Lagos, Meets Governor Sanwo-Olu at State House
Popular American streamer and internet sensation Kai Cenat has returned to Lagos and paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina.
The visit, which took place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, was confirmed in a statement shared on X by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril A. Gawat.
🇳🇬 Why Kai Cenat is in Lagos
According to Gawat, Cenat’s visit is part of his ongoing efforts to follow up on youth-focused projects he plans to execute in Lagos State.
“Kai Cenat is in Lagos to follow up on some projects and initiatives he plans to execute for kids and young people in Lagos State, Nigeria,” Gawat stated.
Discussions during the meeting focused on:
• Education
• Culture
• Community development
• Youth empowerment
🏫 School project plans
Cenat is currently advancing plans for a school project he previously pledged to support. The initiative was initially proposed for the Makoko community but was later relocated to Yaba due to environmental and structural concerns.
The project builds on Cenat’s earlier visit to Makoko, where he was deeply moved by the overcrowded conditions at the Makoko Children Development Foundation School and Orphanage. During that visit, he donated about $3,000 for immediate needs and later expanded the pledge into a multi-million-dollar school initiative.
🌍 “Nigeria is a place to go”
During the engagement, Kai Cenat expressed deep admiration for Lagos, praising the city’s energy, creativity, and cultural richness.
He described Nigeria as the first country where he felt “100 per cent love,” adding that the reception he received was overwhelming. Cenat also pledged to promote Nigeria globally, saying he would return to the United States and tell people that “Nigeria is a place to go.”
🎭 Governor Sanwo-Olu reacts
Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed Cenat back to Lagos and described the meeting as an opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives. He commended the streamer for his interest in youth development and highlighted Lagos’ growing appeal to international creatives.
The governor also spoke about Lagos’ rich cultural heritage, including iconic traditions such as the Eyo Festival.
🌟 Global influence meets Lagos
Kai Cenat is one of the most-followed streamers in the world, commanding a massive youth audience across platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
His visit comes weeks after fellow American streamer IShowSpeed visited Lagos, drawing massive crowds and dominating social media conversations.
During his 2024 Lagos visit, Cenat was hosted by music star Davido, embraced Nigerian culture, sampled local foods, learned slang, and earned the nickname “Femi Omo Weyrey.”
While full details of his current itinerary remain undisclosed, his return continues to spotlight Lagos as a global hub for culture, creativity, and youth-driven impact.
