The pastor, known for his straight-talking relationship advice, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that money isn’t the only measure of a man’s ability to lead. He argued that once financial provision is removed from the equation, many men lack the spiritual, emotional, mental, and moral capacity needed to guide a partner effectively.
“If you remove money, most men don’t have what it takes to lead a woman. That’s why most men want to hold on to the idea that a man’s main role is ‘providing’.”
Okonkwo added that, in today’s world, men cannot rely solely on wealth to claim authority or leadership in a relationship.
“Outside money, most men don’t have the spiritual, emotional, mental, or moral capacity to lead a woman — and even the money, many men don’t even have it.”
He went further to critique an outdated mindset, noting that some men are still operating with beliefs formed during a time when women were largely uneducated and financially dependent:
“A lot of men today are carrying an outdated syllabus and archaic mindset developed when women weren’t educated or working. Being the head today is no longer about paying rent and school fees — you must be a quality man.”
His post has since gone viral, sparking heated conversations online about what it truly means to be a leader in modern relationships, and whether financial provision alone is enough.
