“I should be a case study for young girls” – First Lady Oluremi Tinubu says

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said she wants her life and journey to serve as a case study and role model for young girls, especially in a time when positive role models are becoming harder to find.

She made this statement on Thursday, January 29, during the inauguration of the “Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre” at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady said she has always believed in living intentionally so younger generations can learn from her example.

“All along, I have been thinking that I should be a case study for young girls,” she said.

According to her, while conversations about the girl child are everywhere, many young people today struggle to find people they can genuinely look up to.

She also pointed out that the rise of social media has made it easier for false narratives and envy-driven stories to overshadow real achievements.

“We live in an age where, even when people are doing well, out of envy, many untrue things are said about them on the internet, and our young people do not really see many people to emulate,” she added.

Reflecting on her own life, Oluremi Tinubu shared how role models played a huge role in shaping her dreams and decisions while growing up.

She recalled that as a young girl, she already knew what she wanted to become.

“As young as I was then, just like the two girls who welcomed me here, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and I ended up being one,” she said.

The First Lady encouraged young girls to dream boldly, stay focused, and surround themselves with positive influences, stressing that dreams are valid no matter how simple they may seem.
