If Fubara is impeached, then it’s a big indictment on President Tinubu’s ability to protect APC governors- media personality, Rufai Oseni
? Rivers politics heating up ? Media personality Rufai Oseni shares his thoughts.
Media personality and journalist Rufai Oseni has weighed in on the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, saying the situation could reflect poorly on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if it succeeds.
In a post shared on social media on January 20, Rufai argued that if Governor Fubara is eventually impeached, it would raise serious questions about President Tinubu’s ability to protect governors aligned with or defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, the development suggests that political protection is not guaranteed, even for governors who align themselves with the ruling party.
The impeachment move was initiated by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The lawmakers insist that the process is not connected to the political rift between Governor Fubara and his former political ally.
Instead, they claim the impeachment is based on alleged infractions by the governor, including accusations of spending unbudgeted state funds.
Rufai’s comments have since sparked conversations online, as Nigerians debate the balance of power, party loyalty, and the broader implications for governors navigating internal political battles.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on Rivers State — and what it could mean for national politics.I’m
