When former Big Brother Naija star Saskay (born Tsakute Ladi Jonah) walked into the Brussels School of Governance at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), she wasn’t just beginning a Master’s program—she was stepping into a new era of purpose, resilience, and global ambition.

The Nigerian reality star and creative powerhouse has revealed she is now officially pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Security and Strategy in Brussels, Belgium. The announcement, shared on her verified Instagram account (@officialsaskay), marks a defining moment in her journey—one that blends pop culture fame with academic excellence.

A Journey Five Years in the Making

In her heartfelt post, Saskay revealed that this milestone didn’t come easy. For five years, she waited, prayed, and worked tirelessly for the right opportunity to further her studies.

“There were times I cried myself to sleep because I wanted more and I just wanted to go to school,” she admitted. At one point, Saskay even enrolled in a course she wasn’t passionate about—just to keep moving forward.

Her breakthrough came in 2025: an admission offer, a scholarship, and a successful visa process. Saskay called the timing divine, recalling how she went for Thanksgiving service at her church even before her admission letter arrived. “I recently learned to give thanks even before my blessings arrived,” she wrote.

Balancing Fame and Academia

Since capturing hearts during her stint on BBNaija: Shine Ya Eye, Saskay has been celebrated for her artistry, fashion, and entrepreneurial flair. Yet, her decision to pursue a career-shaping Master’s in Global Security and Strategy proves that she is more than just a reality TV alum—she is a woman on a mission.

While excited, she admitted the transition hasn’t been easy. Returning to international academics after years in the limelight felt overwhelming. “I already called my sister in tears,” she confessed. Still, she described herself as “strapped in” and ready to face the challenge head-on.

Why Global Security and Strategy?

The program at Brussels School of Governance is designed for leaders who want to shape international policy, diplomacy, and peace-building. For Saskay, this choice signals a commitment to global impact beyond entertainment.

Her photos outside VUB’s campus, standing proudly by the school’s sign, and even posing at the European Parliament, represent more than aesthetics—they symbolize Nigeria’s growing influence in global governance and diplomacy.

A Symbol of Nigerian Resilience

Saskay’s story resonates deeply with the Nigerian and African diaspora. From the streets of Jos to BBNaija’s massive platform and now the corridors of Brussels’ elite academic institutions, her journey proves that dreams delayed are not dreams denied.

She joins a growing list of Nigerian celebrities who are making bold moves outside entertainment—whether it’s Mr. Eazi’s investments across Africa, Funke Akindele’s political ambitions, or Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning global tours.
